Episode # 1... Meet the
Flock-ers!
Billy Chicken's
career was etched in stone from the beginning. Billy came from a long line
of show business chickens. |
|
His grand-dad, William R.
Chicken, pictured here in 1933 at the Texas State Fair with partner, Dusty
Boots. Despite how this picture appears, William was actually a regular
sized chicken. Dusty, on the other hand was only 24" tall.
 |

Always
popular with the ladies, William's affections soon turned toward this
fetching young hen, Priscilla and they become parents to Billy's father,
Will E. Chicken..... |

As you can
see, it was a difficult birth. |
|

William placed
first in his division for many years before eventually working for this
man.......

Episode # 2...
Billy Chicken's Dad [Dedicated
to the late Don Knotts - 1925 to 2006]
|
|
Billy Chicken's Dad, Will E. Chicken
worked with comedian, Wally Boag in 1955 in The Golden Horseshoe Revue at
Disneyland.
 |

Originally acting as a prop in
Wally's Traveling Salesman carpet bag, Will later inspired Wally to create
balloon shaped chickens in his honor. |

Notice the
uncanny likeness to actor,
Don Knotts? |
|
In 1966, Bill auditioned for the movie, "The Ghost
and Mr. Chicken". Despite his agents advice, the role wasn't actually for a
chicken.
In a weird twist of fact, the role was given to actor, Don Knotts
instead.
Coincidence? We think not!

|

Billy fans will
recognize current Billy sub, Cory Rouse for his resemblance to the above
mentioned actor.... the man, not the chicken!.

Episode # 3 - Billy Chicken's
Other Famous Family
Members..... |
|
This is Uncle Paul. [the chicken, not the man].
Paul really
enjoyed model rocketry until local members of the Rocket Scientist Club of
Azusa told him where he could put it.
 |
Uncle George is
pictured here assisting
Golden Horseshoe
Variety Show star,
Dana Daniels. It was
either "juggle apples" or "juggle George". Always a health advocate, Dana chose fruit.
 |
This is his only
sister, Yoko, a rebel and part time off-key missionary teacher in the Chow
Mein district of China.

Here she demonstrates the proper use of wall maps, as she
points out just how far China is from Anaheim. |
|

This is weird cousin, John. A bit of a loner, he worked as a
small time director filming remakes of Godzilla films with all chicken
casts. Paul is featured in the bottom left center and later was featured on
the menu. |
This is brother, Monty, a lobbyist for
Ralph Nader. He is pictured here during a drug check by his employer.

Episode # 5 - Billy Chicken
Visits DCA's Muppet Vision Labs |
|
Always on the look-out
for ADVENTURE, when Billy Chicken heard about Disney's 2nd theme park, he
was off like a dirty shirt.
Here he meets Uncle Melvin with co-star,
Fozzie Bear during a rare rehearsal for Muppet Vision 3D.

|
Visiting this
attraction prompted
the famous chicken joke........

"Why did the chicken
cross the road?" |
Here are some famous answers:
Fozzie Bear: To see Gregory
Peck?
Groucho Marx: Why, I
had an uncle who thought he was a chicken. My aunt would have divorced him, but
we needed the eggs.
Mae West: I invited it to
come up and see me sometime.
Martin Luther King: It had
a dream.
Bob Dylan: How many roads
must one chicken cross?
Yoda: Feels The
Force, not this chicken. Crosses or does not cross the road, does he? Then a
Jedi chicken is he.
J.R.R. Tolkien, author of "Lord
of the Rings": One Road to rule them all, one Road to find them, one
Road to bring them all, and on the pavement bind them...
Henny Youngman: Take this
chicken ... please.
High School Student: Do I
have to write a paper on this?
|
|

In an effect to make
Billy Chicken feel more welcome, Elmo dressed for the part. This was later
to become the theme for an entire line of Sesame Street toys.
|

The Swedish chef even prepared
a special welcome meal.

This prompted the Chef's most famous dish..... Muppet Pot
Pie.
|
Colonel Sanders: Who cares?
He was just a drop in the bucket.
Dr. McCoy (Bones): He's
dead, Jim. I'm a Doctor, Dammit, not a traffic cop for poultry.
Capt. James T. Kirk: To
boldly go where no chicken has gone before.

Elvis for another assignment. |
Here he is seen
trying to take over Billy Fiddle's role as the "Devil" who went down to
Georgia.
 |
Billy Fiddle is
NOT amused!

He VERY tactfully suggests a new idea. |
|
Here he tries his hand [or wing]
at product placement......

...but he was no match for Vanna White. |
Next, he tried stunt
acrobatics.....

This was greatly enjoyed by the audience, but he was often
mistaken for a pinata. |

Episode # 8 - Billy Chicken
Does Disneyland....By Request |
 |
|
|
At the request of
The Billys, Chicken is persuaded to leave the Horseshoe, so our fine
feathered hero decides to be a tourist for a day.
 |

First, he visits
these fine fans in line for the next show. They'd already been in line for
two days, hence the portable DVD player for entertainment. Man, the Billys
are popular! |
|
Than Billy Chicken
pops over to the vendor's cart across the way for a tasty BBQ Turkey leg.
Since he has no hands eating this became quite a challenge and even drew a
small crowd of curious onlookers.
 |
Next, he ventured
in the "hub" where he found a statue of his fellow castmember Donald Duck.
They both agreed to pose, although Donald was a little stiff and cold about
it. Professional jealousy, we suspect.
