www.grateful-dudes.net | Jan's Review - If you love bluegrass, this CD is a real winner. The Grateful Dudes have been performing together for over 13 years in the same location, Vincenzo's Pizza in Santa Clarita/Newhall, California. They have honed their musical skills to a fine point, can tell what one another are thinking musically and the vocal harmonies are just incredible. The band includes Rodger Phillips on banjo, Scott Micale on guitar, Dennis Fetchet on fiddle and Bill Bryson on bass. My business connection to Dennis started at Disneyland, where he has been appearing 5 days a week, 5 shows a day since 1992 in the "Billy Hill and the Hillbillies Show" at the Golden Horseshoe Stage in Frontierland. He also toured for many years with Hoyt Axton. Bill Bryson also appears with The Laurel Canyon Ramblers and is a busy studio musician. Scott and Rodger have been local accomplished musicians since their teens in Southern California. | Song List: 1. I'm Rollin' On 2. Jambalaya 3. Steam Powered Aereo Plane 4. Jerusalem Ridge 5. This is one of my teenage daughter's favorite bands and I must admit that I enjoy their music, too. They sing and play well, they have a catchy beat and great songs, they're all very cute and they dance. Considered 3rd wave ska, Suburban Legends is fresh and new... fascinating to watch. "None of Your Business" by The Big Shots featuring Tony Fabulous |
| This Band's Disneyland Connection -
Three of the group's members perform with various Disneyland bands. Kirk Wall is the star of Billy Hill and the Hillbillies over at the Golden Horseshoe in Frontierland. Dave Eastly plays with The Barncats at Disney's California Adventure, The River Rascals in New Orleans Square, Swingtown at the Carnation Stage, as well as a sub for Billy Hill & the Hillbillies. at The Big Shots featuring Tony Fabulous for $15.00 each Their Official Website is:
The Big Shots featuring Tony Fabulous | Jan's Review - Kirk Wall is a very entertaining person and never more so than when he is doing his lounge lizard persona, Tony Fabulous. On this CD, he fronts The Big Shots, which features Kenny Treseder on keyboards, Penny Watson on saxophone and vocals, Steve Crum on trumpet, Dave Eastly on bass, Randy White on drums, and Tom Bevan on guitar. All extremely talented musicians, this CD is heavily influenced by Big Band and swing music, but with a very hip edge. For Big Band enthusiasts, this CD is a must! Jan's Favorite Song - I have two favorite songs for this album. Dave Eastly's "Stop It" because of his mellow voice and the easy tone of the song and "Rock, Scissors, Paper" because of the cleverness of the lyrics and Kirk's Dean Martin style of delivery. | Song List: 1. www.thefabfour.net | Jan's Review - I can't tell you the number of times I have seen the Fab Four perform... probably hundreds. They are the most talented group of musicians I have ever met. One would expect them to just perform well on stage, but to perform songs exactly as someone else and do it with uncanny accuracy is a true skill. After hearing these two Christmas CD's in 2002 at the Grove Theater CD Premiere Party, I am even more convinced of their talent. The Band have created some of the most clever song arrangements I have ever heard. The members include Ron McNeil as John, Ardy Sarraf as Paul , George Michael Amador as George and Rolo Sandoval as Ringo. These creative individuals have seamlessly woven "Rudolph, The Red Nose Reindeer" with "I Saw Her Standing There", "Joy to the World" with "Please, Please Me", "Feliz Navidad" with "And I Love Her", "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" with "Help", "Winter Wonderland" with "Honey Don't", "Frosty the Snowman" with "Mr. Moonlight", "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" with "Eight Days A Week", "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" with "When I'm 64", and my personal favorite, "Away in a Manger" with "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away". I highly recommend these CDs to anyone who enjoys The Beatles or just likes fun Christmas music. | Song List: Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer | Joy to the World | Feliz Navidad | Hark! The Herald Angels Sing | Away in a Manger | Good King Wenceslas | It Came Upon a Midnight Clear | Winter Wonderland | Frosty the Snowman | Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! | Santa Claus Is Coming to Town | Silent Night | Christmas Song | God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen | Little Drummer Boy | Dear Santa | What Child Is This? | Blue Christmas | Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree | Jingle Bells |
Jan's Favorite Song - My favorite is "Away in the Manager" which has been crossed with "Hey, You Have To Hide Your Love Away". Very clever! |
