The Story of

Billy Hill and the Hillbillies:

The Later Years

Inspired by their famous vaudeville relative, Uncle Houdini Hill, the brothers decided they would go into show business.

Their first show business venture involved a bicycle act with younger brother, Billy Mandolin.

When the bicycle act failed to gain bookings, the brothers decided to build an act around their pet mouse, Puccini. Puccini later broke off from the Hill Brothers and started his own career as a voice understudy for Mickey Mouse at the Disney Studios.

It was at this time that eldest brother, Billy Fiddle joined his first professional bluegrass band and began touring the country.

No longer interested in

"hanging around"

the old neighborhood, the three remaining Hill Brothers re-formed their old singing act, The Cowhills.

In 1992, based on a good recommendation from their pet mouse Puccini, who was now a Disney employee, the brothers formed Billy Hill and The Hillbilllies.

Shown here and in the above photo are brothers Billy Bass, Billy Fiddle [on banjo] and Billy Elvis [on mandolin] as they appeared at the opening of Splash Mountain in 1992.

The person on guitar to the left is actually cousin, Billy Mario, who joined the group before Billy Mandolin [who was still dealing with the bicycle act].
