Disneyland officially opened on July 17, 1955. The problem of how to provide useful information to park guests was solved by the printing of flyers, pamphlets and brochures that listed important facts, such as show times, parade times, attraction locations and descriptions, dining options and guest services. It was soon discovered that guests liked keeping the attractive Disneyland paper items as souvenirs of their visits. Eventually, photographic souvenir brochures were provided for purchase, and many sponsoring companies discovered that giving guests pamphlets and postcards about their company and it's attraction provided valuable public relations. Companies that jumped on the "paper" bandwagon included Bank of America, Monsanto, Upjohn Pharmacies, Kodak, Chicken of the Sea, and Sunkist Citrus Products. My Disneyland Paper collection contains four types of media..... Click on any of the 4 links below to view these guides: * Free Daily Park Brochures and Flyer - that provided attraction, dining, entertainment, and park information for park guests. These were usually handed out at the main gate or with your ticket purchase. * Souvenir Pictorial Park Guides - that were available for purchase throughout the park. These included photos and information to provide you with memories of your visit to Disneyland. * Disneyland INA, Polaroid, and Kodak Souvenir Guides - These 4 x 6 guide booklets were provided by Insurance of North America Company and included all information needed for the guest's magical Disneyland experience. These booklets were also provided free. * Free Special Event Flyers - These free brochures and flyers were provided to give specific entertainment or event information to park guests. These also were given out at the main gate or with your ticket purchase. |
Disneyland INA, Polaroid and Kodak Guides These are a series of free guide booklets provided by INA [Insurance of North America]. These 4" x 7" pocket guides provided a list of attractions, maps of each land, services, dining, shows, parades, and how to use the A - E ticket system. | Entire Year, 1965 | Entire Year, 1966 | Earlier in Year, 1967 | Fall & Winter, 1967 |

These replaced the INA guides listed above and were sponsored by Polaroid until 1985 when sponsorship was taken over by Kodak. They usually included the entire years schedule of information. "Disneyland Today" Guides were also still provided, along with the Souvenir Guides Booklets with listings of shows and parades. |

| This style of Disneyland was discontinued in 1994.... Go to Jan's "Disneyland Today" and Other Free Brochures to see more. | After 1994, the format changed and multi page booklets were no longer available. Instead, the free "Disneyland Souvenir Guide" was combined with free "Disneyland Today" entertainment guide to produce a fold-out multi page map and brochure that was given out free to park guests. |
