The first Annual Pancake Race
at the beginning of Lent. Sponsored by the Quaker Oats Company and
Disneyland, the Annual Pancake Race offered a $100 dollar prize to
the winner. In 1957, it was awarded to Rose Pitman of Visalia. |

Also introduced for the first time at the start of
summer was “Date Nite at Disneyland”, as a way to get young
people into Disneyland on Friday and Saturday evenings to dance and
eat. This promotion ended in the mid-1960's. |
